Whole wheat chocolate chips sourdough waffles

Equipment

  • Waffle maker

Ingredients

  • cups Whole wheat flour
  • ¾ cup Natural yeast
  • cups Almond milk
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • ¼ cup Coconut oil
  • ½ tsp Baking powder
  • cup Chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepping

  • In a large mixing bowl add flour, salt, active and bubbly natural yeast, honey, milk and stir until everything is completely incorporated and leave it covered overnight over the kitchen counter.

Making the waffles

  • In the morning to the batter add melted coconut oil, vanilla extract, chocolate chips, baking powder and stir everything to bring it together.
  • Heat the waffle maker add a ladle full of batter in the waffle cavity and cook until it turns golden brown on both sides.
  • Repeat the same for the remaining batter
  • Serve warm topped with fruits, toppings and sweetener of your choice

Notes

  • You can make this recipe completely vegan by using gluten free natural yeast and substituting the whole wheat flour with oat flour or quinoa flour, substituting honey with either maple syrup or date syrup
